Rangers Die Casting Goes Green with Renewable Energy

President Obama recently announced that the federal government plans to use renewable energy sources for 20 percent of its electricity needs by 2020. The effort is part of the President’s drive to combat climate change and prepare for its effects. A plan announced in June 2013 would put first-time limits on carbon pollution from new and existing power plants, boost renewable energy production on federal lands and prepare communities to deal with higher temperatures. The effort results from President Obama’s belief that the federal government should lead by example.

Rangers Aluminum Die Casting Company and EdisonConsistent with this presidential effort, Rangers also leads by example. We have taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint including an expanded program of “Green Facilities Initiatives” that further reduce our ecological footprint in our offices and aluminum die casting production facilities. These initiatives target our impact on landfills, waterways and energy usage. We have enhanced our ongoing recycling activities involving production scrap, plastic shrink film, pallets, batteries, packaging containers, corrugated material, and office paper. We have programs in place to reduce chemical and process water usage related to aluminum die casting alloys. We are also RoHS compliant and adhere to the strictest measures for domestic and international shipments.

Working to protect our environment is not a new focus for Rangers. For years we have cooperated with Southern California Edison Company and voluntarily agreed to curtail manufacturing during peak usage hours to lessen the chance of brownouts and blackouts. With proper scheduling and employee participation, we have maintained a 99 percent on time delivery target for cast aluminum parts.

Rangers installed electric resistance holding furnaces, which cut our metal oxidation losses and aluminum alloy scrap rates in half, resulting in lowered operating aluminum die casting company costs while creating a quieter, more comfortable work environment for employees.
